Shonishin

Shonishin is the use of non insertive needles to rub, stroke, tap and press the skin of infants and young children up to 7 years old, to produce gentle stimulation. The needles are made of gold, silver and copper. Sometimes a press sphere, a tiny round ball, is taped on acupuncture points and left for a few hours after this type of therapy. Shonishin is done quickly, usually within 15-20 minutes. The technique is most effective when given several times per week until the symptoms get better. Once the acute stage has been addressed treatments may continue less often to prevent recurrence.

Shonishin is used for a wide variety of conditions including, colic, diarrhea, constipation, GERD, ADHD, asthma, allergies, eczema and bedwetting.
